How We Do It
We are proud of being able to state that every dollar donated by individuals to the Charger Pride Scholarship Foundation has gone directly to fund scholarships for students from Memorial.
All the legal work involved in setting up the Foundation was done pro bono. Our logo was designed for us at no cost. This website was built by a Memorial graduate as an in-kind donation to the Foundation. All officers and board members are volunteers, and we maintain no offices.
The costs we have incurred—filing fee with the IRS, printing and postage for our mailings, bank fees, and so on—have been carefully considered, and have all been covered by the matching grants we have received from corporations whose employees have donated to the Foundation. It is our goal to continue to seek matching grants at a rate to cover all the administrative costs of the Foundation. We have elected to accept credit card donations via PayPal, which charges us a small, nonprofit-favorable percentage on dollars donated that way. Fees like that are inevitable if we want to make the convenience of credit card donations available to our contributors. (Contributors who write checks to the Foundation will still be able to say every penny of their donation goes to scholarships.)
